3rd cave tour in the books 💗 we took the Rushmore Cave tour on the 4th of July while my sister and fam were in town. We all really enjoyed it, our guide was in high school and knew so much about this cave and many others, we were impressed. We finally took the Iron Mountain drive while Korey's aunt and uncle were in town a couple weeks ago. It was awesome! We've said this a few times already but we love a bison traffic jam. We really do love slow travel. Spending time in one area to explore. Getting to know the people around us. Learning our way to the grocery store without navigation. BUT...this has been our longest stop. Korey still has like 5 or 6 weeks at this current job and we started talking yesterday about how it's time...getting the itch to move on. Korey is working 12+ hours today and I got to try to calm down poor Sully down while we had another hailstorm....largest hail yet, sounded like someone was throwing rocks at our RV. I feel bad for all the people here for the Sturgis Rally and tent camping in the almost daily storms. Now it's back to sunny and 80...they have the weirdest weather in the Black Hills! Last year when we visited the Crazy Horse Memorial we talked about how it would be so neat to get to see it finished in our lifetime. Going back was on our list while in the Black Hills and we got to do that while Korey's aunt and uncle were here last week. We couldn't see the progress made over the last year initially until we saw the pics in the visitor center. It's definitely slow moving to complete but still so enjoyable to see. At the rate they are going we are still pretty sure we will never get to see it completed, which is a bummer. This was a week before the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally started, in Hill City. The Rally officially started on Friday and wow...so many people in the area! With both a/c's running and the TV on we still hear a steady rumble of motorcycles passing by. Korey is about to be even busier than he's already been while helping at the Buffalo Chip whenever someone has a camper issue until the rally ends. Korey's aunt and uncle are in town so we got to enjoy a couple days exploring with them 💗 on our way to Crazy Horse from Rushmore we had to pull over to snap the George Washington profile shot. We've been 3x now and it doesn't get old, we love exploring this area.
